When Claire and Pete first started Morningswood Farm, the water repellent ground was their very first challenge. The last four years has seen them puts lots and lots of love (and organic matter) into the land, which now produces delicious berries for the community.
Claire says a highlight of being a grower is that she loves people visiting the farm and that interacting with consumers is a highlight of what she does. Whilst she also admits growing is not without its challenges, water being the most pertinent, the berries are now at a great stage of growth.
Morningswood Farm grows delicious strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, tayberries, youngberries and boysenberries. Strawberries are available for U-Pick, straight from the patch into handmade oak punnets and then for your immediate enjoyment. That’s as fresh as you can get. They also sell incredible preserves and vinegars in their shop onsite.
Claire and Pete are hoping for organic certification in the near future, and to expand on their very loved farm, especially hoping that other local growers continue to prosper despite the land market becoming ever-increasingly valuable and hopefully not getting out-priced.
