‘Grow local, buy local, eat local’ is the philosophy of Fiona and Edward Benedict of Adsum Farmhouse in Glenlyon. Using organic farming practices, they live and grow by the seasons.

The Benedict family started Adsum farm in 2012 and Fiona says that their market garden “sustains our family and now also nourishes our community”.

Adsum Farmhouse grows incredible lettuce, snow peas, pumpkin, kale, eggplants as well as gherkins, herbs and fresh fruit such as apples, pears, berries and much much more.

Whilst the long hours and weather can prove challenging, the Benedict’s note that a highlight of being growers is growing beautiful food that tastes great and that they know is filled with nutrients.

They hope the future will see more fresh produce growers in the region and that consumers recognise how lucky they are to be able to buy local, seasonal, nutritious produce within the Macedon Ranges and surrounding area.

Adsum Farmhouse can be found at Daylesford Sunday Market.
